Lovino Vargas - SOUTH ITALY (WIP)

God(s): While he (secretly) respects all the Deities of the island pretty equally, he slightly favors Syku, though he can't help but wonder if he himself is favored by Tandys...
Gift: Sound suppression - He can nullify sound waves around him/anything he's in contact with. For example, causing his footsteps to fall silent, nullifying sounds from a lock he's attempting to pick, literally muting out noise before it can reach his ears, etc. The ability becomes more difficult for him to control if he's unfocused or nervous, though.

Personality: To put it shortly, abrasive. He's the sort of person with the sort of personality that clashes with most of the people he comes into contact with. Once you get past his aggressive tendencies, however, it's quite clear that Lovino is a very devoted, loyal person. It's difficult for him to show it in normal situations, favoring instead to let out insults towards the company he keeps, but he will easily put their safety at the highest priority.

That isn't to say Lovino's a very strong or brave person; it is by no means difficult to get him flustered or upset. While he detests showing such weaknesses in front of others, many times it's unavoidable with how high his emotions tend to run.
Grumpiness tends to play a major role in his overall personality, but there are times when he can be found at ease, and even potentially in a good mood (one not brought on by the misfortune of others, even! [Don't say schadenfreude it is a stupid word >:I]). Around women, Lovino will always maintain a polite demeanor and may even be caught at ease if the situation is right. His chivalrous attitude can come as something of a surprise, given how jarringly different it is compared to his usual cranky, irritable, and foul-mouthed disposition.

An interesting thing to note is Lovino's affinity towards respecting the Gods of the island. He keeps it under wraps, since most people in his position consider that a very uncool thing to do.

Strengths:
- Loyal, once he finds someone who he can actually be loayal to.
- Cooking, he's actually a fairly decent chef if he puts his mind to it.
- Pick-pocketting, given his gift, this is pretty obvious.
- Polite and courteous, at least when it comes to dealing with ladies.

History: Lovino was still very, very young when he was taken away from his family. He doesn't remember the event itself, and through some mishap or another, he wound up alone in the southeast quarter of the island, which is pretty much all of what his early memories consist of. Life wasn't easy for the small child until he grew into using his ability. With enough practice, he figured out how he could use his talent to get by.

Every so often, he'd charm someone enough to let him stay with them, but for the most part, Lovino had to raise himself on his own. It didn't take very long after his talents started to emerge that Lovino began using them for some rather unscrupulous activities. It started out with mostly sneaking into places for food or shelter, but as he grew older, he found it to be a lot easier to relieve people of their wallets. His abilities became known among some of the more underhanded members of the quarter, and he became rather sought-after to do some dirtier jobs.

It only occurred to him very rarely that he had a family, mostly due to the fact that he did remember his family name, and there was a good possibility that someone shared it with him, but he never had much motivation to go look for them whenever the thought struck him. While he does remember his name, he prefers to use an alias he came us with, "Romano", and is hard pressed to give his actual name out to anyone.
